The Spruhan Avenue Residency is a unique opportunity to live within an intentional neighbourhood community while growing your leadership and practical skills in grassroots community development.

Hosted by The Good Neighbourhood Project (TGNP) in Norlane, this 12-month residency invites emerging leaders to contribute to meaningful local change from the inside out. We believe neighbourhood transformation happens when people are supported to build relationships, practice hospitality, and participate in shaping the place they call home.

As a Spruhan Resident, you’ll live alongside others and contribute approximately 15 hours per week to programs, events and social enterprises based at our Spruhan Avenue Neighbourhood Hub. Your focus areas will be shaped around your skills, passions and development goals — whether that’s community events, food initiatives, social enterprise, leadership development or neighbourhood engagement.

You’ll be an active member of the TGNP team, participating in supervision, reflective practice, and training opportunities, while also embracing the rhythms of shared living and intentional community.

This residency is for you if you:

  • Care deeply about neighbourhood-based community development

  • Want to grow in leadership confidence and practical community work skills

  • Value generosity, hospitality and relational living

  • Are reflective, self-aware and open to learning

  • Are comfortable living in shared community

Experience in community development, social work, youth work, social enterprise or hospitality is welcome — but not essential.
